STEM and Technology Equity

The AustSTEM Foundation believes that there is a distinct lack of equity in the distribution of appropriate STEM digital tools in Australian primary classrooms across the country.

Tablets are becoming ubiquitous in 1:1 ratios in the classrooms of the more well-off schools, but are rare, shared, and often not working in the lower SES schools.

From the outer suburbs of our major cities and beyond, working PC’s and laptops are shared in ever-increasing ratios.

The long term aim of the AustSTEM Foundation to make Kookaberries free to teachers in every Year 5 classroom over at least a two year period is expected to create a level of supported and targeted STEM and Technology equity across Primary schools that is simply not possible with current devices
